MARKET WATCH update

Quick update.  If you make a trade during the weekend, the ticket will not be processed until the stock market opens on Monday.  I made that observation now after making a trade yesterday which has still not gone through yet.

So if you expected your weekend trade to be ready within 24 hrs., this is why!  Thanks!

……..and I’m glad you have entered in the running for the…

Homework 4/29

Behavior was much better today, thanks.

Math– 5A Workbook pages 187-188

Social Studies– copy down and write the definitions for the 8 vocabulary words from Chapter 8, Lesson 3, pgs. 288-295

Take at least 10+ notes from pgs. 290, and 292-295

Complete Social Studies workbook pg. 82

Reading– 55 minutes reading in your independent book or some other source.  Fill out your logs, and summaries for full credit.

Homework 4/28

Everyone has 2 sets of Presidents tonight.  Not only was the room left a mess, but throughout the day the entire class (maybe not all at once) refused to follow repeated instructions to stay seated and keep their voices down.  We started at one set and worked our way up to 2 once I realized that the consequence wasn’t making an impact.  If this nonsense continues, we will continue to do busy work until it sinks in that defiant behavior is unacceptable.

Math– 5A Workbook pages 184-186 (for whatever reason, many students are still ignoring the examples provided to them on the work – please focus on how to combine like terms as we are moving on tomorrow)

**Please check the Grade Book because many students are missing work.  If your child says they did the work in school, ask to see it as many kids are simply not telling the truth.

You may begin by joining at home or during class when I go over the procedures.  This assignment will run parallel to the data we have been tracking.  This online version allows students more flexibility in terms of their decision making and is intended to be fun more than anything else.

The student or students who make the most money at the end of the quarter will receive a prize(s)! (This is mean to be a fun activity to build more skills)

Also, while our share price data will be used to make line graphs, the top 3 students who see the largest % increase in their share prices over time will also receive prizes. (This is the actual graded assignment)

Missing Work

  • Chapter 5, Algebra, Reteach 5A Worksheet pgs. 143-146, #s 1-26
  • Ancient Greece Web Quest #1

http://www.mystery-productions.com/hyper/Hypermedia…

Students were to take 28 separate notes using each main idea presented on the website as their source. Notes were taken on Athens, Sparta, and Gods & Goddesses

Half the class is already missing the above two assignments…please check your Gradebook before this habit continues!

Lastly, the 5A Math Workbook pages had a higher completion rate but almost every single student was making the exact same mistakes when combining like terms (minus those who used their notes and the examples provided on the assignment itself).  We cannot continue to do the same lessons for 3 weeks.  Everyone is responsible for taking their own notes and copying down examples to bring home.  If you have none of this, it is very easy to get left behind as we continue with Chapter 5 next week.

Homework 4/27

Reading– continue with your independent reading for 55 minutes, fill out your reading log and complete a short summary for full credit.  Remember, partial credit over time can really hurt your grade!

  • Many students have been slacking in this department of late so please be sure to check your child’s Reading log before bed.  Thanks!

Math– complete the double-sided worksheet on Evaluating Expressions with a single variable

PLEASE CHECK THE ONLINE GRADE BOOK AND SUBMIT ANY MISSING ASSIGNMENTS ASAP

  • Focus Project Rough Draft
  • Book Club Reflection
  • any of the assignments that were given out at the start of Marking Period 4 (mostly Math)

Students who had No Fun Day and still owe me 2 sets of Presidents are…if I do not receive the work tomorrow the 2 sets becomes 4.  Thanks!
